President Biden’s Attempted Election Takeover: What People Are Saying

Last spring, the president issued Executive Order (EO) 14019, “Promoting Access to Voting.” Don’t let the innocent-sounding title fool you—this EO calls for all federal agencies to draft plans detailing how they will help increase voter registration and participation. This is not the federal bureaucracy’s responsibility.

These federal agencies are full of partisan appointees, so inserting them into the business of voter registration is a move that could be seen as a political power grab to drive voter turnout for the Left.

The even larger problem is that the administration remains tight-lipped about details such as what agency plans for voter registration will entail, what third parties will be allowed to register voters, and how those third parties will be vetted. That’s why FGA filed a lawsuit demanding answers.

Here’s a roundup of our latest editorials discussing President Biden’s thinly veiled attempts to interfere with elections…

The Wall Street JournalVoter registration drive: What’s Biden hiding?

“The administration’s stonewalling is an insult to Americans and a potential threat to election integrity. The president has no authority to push such voter registration and mobilization efforts and no right to withhold the details from the public. Americans deserve transparency and trust in the outcome of our elections.”

The FederalistWhy won’t Biden explain why he’s getting federal agencies to meddle in local elections?

“To date, no federal agency has responded with the records we requested. What is the administration trying to hide? We’ve got an answer: Their silence is an attempt to get America to look the other way while they illegally involve themselves in state elections, which is far, far beyond the constitutional purview of the executive branch.”

Washington ExaminerWhat is Biden hiding in his executive order on elections?

“…the Biden administration has politicized election processes that were uniquely guarded as a nonpartisan since the ratification of the Constitution in 1788….And the president has been even more opaque about who will decide which third parties will be selected to participate in these registration and mobilization schemes. As a result, the Foundation for Government Accountability filed a Freedom of Information Act request in July 2021 to obtain various documents pertaining to the executive order.”

The Federalist: How Biden is trying to turn election offices into get out the vote operations

“President Biden is trying to turn government into a get-out-the-vote operation for his own political party. After failing to pass federal legislation to federalize control of the elections through Congress, and after states passed election integrity bills of their own, the president is attempting a very quiet federal election takeover using an executive order to redirect federal tax dollars toward identifying new voting blocs who are expected to heavily support Democratic candidates.”
