Thanks to government intervention, in many places it is easier to receive welfare than it is to find work. Work is the key to breaking free from dependency, but regulations on jobs at both the local and state levels make it difficult for individuals to get a job and earn a living–and these barriers are particularly hard on low-income individuals. These barriers to work, created by governments at both the local and state levels, limit opportunity and make it harder for people to climb the economic ladder–disproportionately harming low-income families who are trying to earn a living.
