FGA Profile: North Carolina Rep. Jake Johnson

“The biggest problem we have is we’ve got an extremely liberal governor who went out and pretty much said if you don’t feel comfortable going back to work, then we’ll pay you to stay home.”

For State Rep. Jake Johnson, getting North Carolina workers into good-paying jobs is job number one. Rep. Johnson says, “We’re doing a lot of great things to bring business to North Carolina. The issue is training a workforce to fit the jobs we have coming here.”

That’s why Rep. Johnson helped pass measures like the Students’ Right to Know bill, which discloses the cost of tuition against the expected salaries for students in higher education. Rep. Johnson also helped eliminate the federal $350 bonus that paid workers to stay home, saying, “government should never discourage a workforce like that again.”
