FGA Speaks on Rooting Out Food Stamp Fraud

Naples, FL — After a heated House Oversight Committee hearing focused on the Trump administration’s proposed rule to end broad based categorical eligibility and return integrity to the food stamp program, the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) released the following statement.

“This food stamp gimmick was created by D.C. bureaucrats with one goal in mind—Food Stamps for All. Now with the waive of the magic welfare wand, 42 states make people with countable assets that reach into the millions of dollars eligible for food stamps,” said policy director Sam Adolphsen, who testified at the hearing on behalf of FGA. “That isn’t right, and it isn’t fair to the truly needy people who rely on this program for support. Fixing this massive food stamp loophole is the number one action the administration can take to stamp out fraud in the program, and President Trump should be applauded for this rule that will protect the safety net.”
