FGA Responds to Record High Job Openings in Newest Report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

Naples, FL—Yesterday, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released a new report which showed job openings have reached a record high. With little change in total new hires and an increase in total job separations, BLS announced employers have nearly 9.3 million open jobs.

“Employers across the country are desperate for workers. Most say the $300 unemployment bonus is making it more difficult to hire new workers. This latest report confirms the obvious: pandemic-related unemployment benefits are encouraging Americans to stay home and are stunting the economy,” said Jonathan Ingram, Vice President of Policy and Research. “There are more job openings than ever. It’s time for states to end the unemployment bonus and for Congress to let these pandemic-related programs expire once and for all.”
