Visiting Fellow

FGA is the most effective organization at getting free enterprise and conservative policy wins in the states.

About Brian

Brian Blase is a Visiting Fellow at the Foundation for Government Accountability, where he focuses on health care issues and reforming entitlement programs.

Prior to joining FGA, Brian served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy at the White House National Economic Council, Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center, Health Policy Analyst at the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee, and Senior Professional Staff Member at the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s in Economics from George Mason University, and a PhD in Economics from George Mason University.

Brian first experienced the value of work at a brick yard where he bagged sand, cleaned the yard, and made brick and rock displays. He believes that work, along with family, friends, and community engagement, bring meaning to life. To him, there are few things as sweet as feeling the satisfaction of a job well done. He has testified before the Indiana Senate Health and Provider Services Committee and before the Indiana House Insurance Committee, and his commentary has been featured most prominently in the Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, and National Review Online. He’s also a regular on both television and radio.

In his work, Brian is passionate about expanding choice and competition in the U.S. health care system and reforming government—especially entitlement programs. Outside of work, he’s passionate about his family, especially his kids’ sports teams. A fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Nittany Lions, Brian lives in Reston, Virginia, with his wife and their five kids.
