WI State Rep. Warren Petryk on getting people reemployed

“Work is something that is built into the human psyche. I think we like to be productive. I think we really like to help other people.”

Wisconsin State Representative Warren Petryk chose a career in public service because he likes to help people. Now, he’s helping people get back to work in Wisconsin.

Here, Rep. Petryk discusses the need to shift focus from unemployment, which often has a negative connotation, to reemployment. He argues the main goal of unemployment insurance programs is getting people back to work. Prioritizing reemployment helps individuals receiving unemployment benefits find work quicker, grows the economy, and gives people a sense of satisfaction.
