Governor Braun: States Need to Clean Up Welfare Programs

“Welfare reform… if we could do that for our state, it again would be a beacon for the rest of the country.”

– Governor Mike Braun

Indiana Governor Mike Braun identifies three key issues that welfare programs have faced in recent years. First, the Left has implemented policies that have added millions more individuals to welfare. Second, in food stamps specifically, federal dollars meant to supplement nutrition are going to foods that aren’t nutritious. And third, poor program integrity has resulted in ineligible people on welfare programs.

In this video, Gov. Braun discusses the need for change and encourages states to do the “heavy lifting” of reforming their welfare programs to protect the truly needy and crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse.
