Shannon Alford

Government Affairs Director

About Shannon

FGA isn’t about writing dry policy briefs or racking up a scoreboard of bills passed without passion or purpose—FGA is about making real changes to improve the lives of real people.

Shannon Alford is a government affairs director at the Foundation for Government Accountability, where she works with state policymakers to implement proven health care, welfare, and work reforms.

Prior to joining FGA, Shannon served as state director at the NRA-ILA and special assistant to the House Minority Leader in the Maryland General Assembly. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Shannon first experienced the value of work as a campus security escort during college. As a mom, Shannon has loved watching her daughters grow and experience the pride that comes from working for something, as opposed to being gifted something. Her passion for work’s ability to create value for individuals, as well as the community and world around us, motivate her day-to-day efforts at FGA. Shannon has testified before several state legislative committees, and has appeared on various radio outlets across the country, including NRA News.

Shannon is an advocate for citizen engagement in the political process, and loves Krav Maga, canning, backpacking, and our national wilderness. She and her family live in Loudon County, Virginia.

At FGA, we don’t just talk about changing policy—we make it happen.

By partnering with FGA through a gift, you can create more policy change that returns America to a country where entrepreneurship thrives, personal responsibility is rewarded, and paychecks replace welfare checks.
