U.S. Unemployment Falls to Lowest Rate in 50 Years

Naples, FL—The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) this morning announced that the unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent in September, the lowest since May 1969 and the 19th consecutive month below four percent unemployment. The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) issued the following response:

“Pro-worker and pro-growth policies are creating the strongest job market in half a century,” said Whitney Munro, vice president of communications at FGA. “This is a historic moment for the American workforce, and the work isn’t done yet. Now is the time to promote employment and reject dependency, and the Administration and lawmakers across the country must continue to pursue solutions designed to help move Americans off the sidelines and back into this growing economy.”
