Rep. Hageman Fights to Deliver Regulatory Relief to the American People and Small Businesses Across the Country

The Foundation for Government Accountability applauds Rep. Hageman for protecting small businesses from costly rules written by unelected bureaucrats

NAPLES, FL—Today, the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) commends Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) for her bold leadership in introducing the Regulatory Cooling Off Act, a critical piece of legislation aimed at shielding the American people and small businesses from the crushing weight of federal overregulation. Under the Biden administration, regulatory spending and costs have skyrocketed. These burdens harm all Americans, but especially small businesses by creating financial uncertainty and overwhelming compliance costs. The Regulatory Cooling Off Act represents a much-needed step toward restoring fairness and transparency in the regulatory process.

The Biden administration has swelled the Federal Register to more than 300,000 pages, adding 1,674 new pages of Washington rules per day. The Regulatory Cooling Off Act gives entrepreneurs a fair chance by allowing more time to comply with or challenge costly regulations and forcing federal agencies to stop rushing through reckless, heavy-handed mandates.

“Rep. Hageman’s Regulatory Cooling Off Act is a lifeline for America’s small businesses,”  said Stewart Whitson, Senior Director of Federal Affairs for the Foundation for Government Accountability. “President Biden allowed Washington’s unelected bureaucrats to saddle small businesses with onerous mandates and sky-high compliance costs. This bill forces accountability and gives small business owners the breathing room they need to push back or adapt instead of being steamrolled by their own government.”

“FGA is grateful to Rep. Hageman for leading the charge to protect America’s small businesses and reinvigorate our economy. This reform delivers real relief to all Americans, especially the entrepreneurs and job creators driving our economy,” Whitson continued.
