FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SUNSHINE STATE LEADER RECEIVES NATIONAL LEGISLATOR OF YEAR AWARD
AWARD HONORS LEADERSHIP IN PROTECTING FLORIDIAS FROM AN EXPANSION OF OBAMACARE

Florida Rep. Matt Hudson was honored with the Foundation for Government Accountability’s 2015 Legislator of the Year Award Monday for his leadership in the state to prevent a massive expansion of welfare under ObamaCare.

Hudson ensured the state stood strong in the face of threats from the federal government to cut the state’s Low Income Pool funds for hospitals if they didn’t expand Medicaid. Strong partnerships with the FGA and leaders like Hudson have helped protect 20 states from risking their patients’ health, their doctors’ jobs, and their taxpayers’ wallets from an uncapped entitlement program funded with $726 billion worth of cuts to Medicaid care for seniors.

“Medicaid expansion has been a disaster in every state that has implemented it, with major cost overruns and exploding enrollment, all threatening the states’ abilities to fund other services such as education and public safety,” said Tarren Bragdon, FGA CEO.

“Rep. Hudson’s strong leadership in the face of overwhelming pressure made him the clear choice for our Legislator of the Year Award.”

Hudson is one of a handful of state leaders being recognized from around the country for their work in 2015, and they are the first group of legislators to be honored with this annual award.
