AWARD HONORS LEADERSHIP ON BILLS PROTECTING VOLUNTEERS AND CURBING WELFARE FRAUD AND ABUSE

Missouri Sen. David Sater was honored with the 2016 Legislator of the Year Award from the Foundation for Government Accountability Monday for his leadership to protect the state’s safety net for the truly needy and to empower communities to help families in need.

Sater supported legislation to provide the state with the latest technology and tools to combat fraudulent applications and enrollments in Missouri’s welfare programs, and legislation to protect community organizations that help families and children experiencing a short-term crisis.

“Missouri is fortunate to have one of the country’s best leaders fighting to make their state better by preserving our safety nets for those who truly need them, and protecting those who want to give back to their neighbors,” said Tarren Bragdon, FGA CEO.

“Sen. Sater has stepped forward with bold ideas and he is one of the keys to keeping Missouri’s future bright, for its most vulnerable citizens and for its children.”

Sater is just one of a small handful of state leaders being recognized from around the country with the annual award for their work in 2016.
