House and Senate Leaders charted a clear path forward that would benefit the American people while fighting back against the lies and partisan brinkmanship of Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats.
NAPLES, FL – The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) today praised President Trump and Republicans in Congress for their steadfast commitment to reopening the federal government while protecting taxpayers from reckless spending and partisan brinkmanship.
For weeks, Democrats have chosen political theater over public service, causing needless pain for hardworking Americans. Their obstruction has imperiled military readiness, stranded travelers, and delayed vital services for vulnerable children—all while accomplishing nothing more than scoring political points with their radical base.
Senate Majority Leader Thune and Speaker Mike Johnson, by contrast, have stayed focused on solutions that matter: ending the shutdown, cutting waste, preventing illegal aliens from accessing Medicaid, and protecting the American people from policies that drive up costs and dependency.
Among the priorities GOP leaders stood firm on:
- Standing against wasteful Biden COVID credits, which compounded the failures of ObamaCare and lined insurance companies’ pockets.
- Protecting welfare work requirements that reward effort and promote opportunity.
- Guarding commonsense Medicaid reforms in the One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which will ensure program integrity by removing illegal aliens and fraudsters from the program.
- Preserving President Trump’s historic $50 billion investment in rural health care transformation, which Democrats’ CR would have defunded entirely.
