FGA Leads Diverse Coalition With Letter Supporting the Promising Pathway Act
- BY FGA
NAPLES, FL–The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) today led a diverse coalition of 12 patient advocacy and taxpayer organizations in sending a letter to congressional leaders in support of S.1644/H.R. 3761, the Promising Pathway Act (PPA). Introduced by Senator Braun and Congressmen Mike Gallagher and Mike Quigley, among others, the PPA modernizes the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) drug approval process by establishing a rolling, real-time, priority review pathway for promising drugs and biologics that could benefit countless patients with terminal illnesses.
Ahead of Congress’s negotiations on FDA user fees and other health care matters, the letter states that “patients that are suffering cannot afford to wait any longer for treatments that could change their lives for the better.”
“This letter is clear proof of the growing, diverse support for the Promising Pathway Act. Twelve groups with different causes have united in favor of the PPA, because it strikes the right balance between encouraging innovation and prioritizing patient safety. It is a commonsense, bipartisan reform that Congress should enact without delay” said Tarren Bragdon, President and CEO for FGA. “Patients should have the choice of early access to promising treatments that could provide hope for the future.”
