FGA Encourages Promising Pathway Act Inclusion in H.R. 7667

Naples, FL—Today, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health will mark up H.R. 7667, the “Food and Drug Amendments of 2022.” The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) strongly encourages the Committee to include the Promising Pathway Act (PPA) reforms in the reauthorization of the Food and Drug Administration’s user fee program(s).

The PPA reforms make much-needed changes to the FDA’s lengthy drug approval process, providing hope to patients suffering from terminal illnesses. The PPA reforms are exactly what Congress should be looking to include in H.R. 7667 as they are bipartisan, have widespread advocacy group support, and strike the right balance between encouraging innovation and prioritizing patient safety.

The current markup simply does not go far enough in empowering patients, with limited options working with their doctors, to choose therapeutic treatments that could drastically improve their quality of life. Learn more about how the Promising Pathway Act reforms would do just that.
