FGA Applauds Introduction of the Great Healthcare Plan to Transform the U.S. Health Care System and Lower Costs for American Families
Congress should quickly pass this patient-first overhaul that redirects power and dollars away from insurance companies and back to the American people.
NAPLES, FL — Today, the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) issued the following statement in strong support of the Great Healthcare Plan, a comprehensive legislative framework introduced by President Donald Trump to make health care more affordable, put patients in control of their care, and deliver real cost relief to families and small businesses across the country.
“For far too long, American citizens have faced skyrocketing drug prices, hidden insurer practices, and premiums that strain household budgets,” said Tarren Bragdon, President and CEO of the Foundation for Government Accountability. “The Great Healthcare Plan offers a bold, market-based alternative that fundamentally shifts power back to patients, lowers drug prices for Americans, reduces premiums, holds insurance companies accountable, and gives patients real transparency.”
President Trump’s Great Healthcare Plan would:
- Lower Prescription Drug Prices
The plan would codify the Trump administration’s most-favored-nation drug pricing deals, ensuring that Americans pay prices at least as low as those in other developed countries—building on the administration’s historic actions to reduce prescription costs and increase access to essential medications.
- Reduce Insurance Premiums
The plan empowers consumers to purchase coverage that best meets their needs and incentivizes competition among insurers. It also reduces premiums on common plans by more than 10 percent, lowering costs to taxpayers and families alike.
- Hold Insurers Accountable and Increase Transparency
Under this plan, carriers would be required to publish clear, accessible information about rates, claims payouts versus profits, and denial rates. These provisions ensure that consumers have the data they need to make informed choices and that insurers are accountable to the public.
- Maximize Price Transparency Across the System
The plan would require all health care providers and insurers accepting Medicare or Medicaid to prominently post pricing and fees, restoring accountability to a system long plagued by surprise bills and hidden costs.
