FGA Announces 2018 Congressman of the Year Award
- BY FGA
Naples, FL — The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) announced Representative Mike Conaway as the recipient of FGA’s 2018 Congressman of the Year Award.
Representative Conaway, who served as the chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, showed his dedication to promoting work as a solution to dependency as he shepherded the Farm Bill—and its important pro-work welfare reforms—to passage in the House. Conaway’s commitment to welfare reforms that crack down on fraud and move able-bodied adults back to work laid the groundwork for future administrative and executive actions that will reform the food stamp program.
“Chairman Conaway’s leadership in expanding proven work requirements for able-bodied adults and preserving resources for the truly needy should be commended, and we are honored to award him as FGA’s Congressman of the Year,” said Kristina Rasmussen, vice president of federal affairs at FGA. “His dedication to commonsense welfare reforms provided the momentum needed to continue this work into the future.”
