Federal regulations cost more than the entire federal discretionary budget!
In just his first year, President Biden finalized regulations adding more than $200 billion in new regulatory costs. That’s more than four times the costs added during President Obama’s first year. Cumulative regulatory costs have continued to climb since 2009, ballooning to $1.1 trillion under the Biden administration.

With just three rules, the Biden administration unilaterally enacted $1.5 trillion worth of regulations! $1.5 trillion spent over the next decade with no oversight and no congressional approval.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act, the sprawling omnibus bill passed in late December 2022, cost $1.7 trillion in its entirety—and that’s including defense spending!*
