Naples, FL — In response to the ruling issued yesterday by a federal judge regarding Medicaid work requirements in Arkansas and Kentucky, Kristina Rasmussen, vice president of federal affairs at the Foundation for Government Accountability, issued the following statement:
“We are disappointed by the judge’s decision on Medicaid work requirements. Not only does it ignore existing case law on 1115 waiver authority, the ruling fundamentally misstates the statutory purpose of Medicaid. Arkansas and Kentucky established themselves as national leaders on welfare reform, and the federal judge’s ruling today is a blow not only to the able-bodied adults who will be kept in dependency, but also the truly needy individuals in these states who will be threatened as a result.”
