State Affairs Manager

FGA offers powerful policy solutions that can be implemented to improve lives and put more people on the path to pursue their own American Dream. Focusing on just three reform areas, FGA is able to hone in and really impact policy to ensure more people have the opportunity to take ownership over their lives.

Megan Schmidt is the state affairs manager at the Foundation for Government Accountability, where she manages FGA’s state activities to ensure that stakeholders have the data, resources, and information necessary to implement solutions that reduce dependency and promote work.

Prior to joining FGA, Megan served as the chief of staff at the Office of the State Bank Commissioner of Kansas and as the interim director of appointments in the Kansas Office of the Governor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Kansas State  University.

Megan first experienced the value of work as a lifeguard and swim instructor. Her passion for building up America’s youth and ensuring they have the opportunity for success fuels her work as a board member of the Advisory Group on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, her volunteer work with the Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Service Series, and her work at FGA.

A fan of the Kansas State Wildcats and Nashville Predators, Megan resides in Tennessee.
