Florida Is Leading the Way on Higher Education Reform
The Sunshine State offers innovative tools that bring transparency, options, and career readiness to students
Florida has built the best higher education system in the country. This did not happen overnight, but through implementing reforms over the last two decades to achieve long-term success.
Now, students in Florida are paying less at public colleges and universities—and Florida is the only state to see a drop in tuition as other states experience dramatic increases and families take on even more debt.
How did Florida do it? The Students’ Right to Know reform with MyFloridaFuture has allowed students to compare average earnings across fields of study and access other information to make decisions about college costs and careers. At the same time, Florida has implemented real, targeted tuition relief, and carried out smart higher education budgeting, making the Sunshine State the model for the nation.
