About Averel
Averel Meden is the Senior Fellow for Federal Affairs at the Foundation for Government Accountability.
Prior to joining FGA, she was on the Speaker’s leadership staff in the Ohio House of Representatives. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Anthropological Sciences from The Ohio State University and a Master’s in Education from Ave Maria University.
Averel first experienced the value of work watching her grandparents’ success as children of The Great Depression and members of the armed forces in WWII. Her first jobs included working in a clothing store opened by her grandmother and her sister, and working as a summer camp counselor. From fast food to working in the Ohio Statehouse, to her, work means using your skills and abilities to bring light into the world. Averel has been an outspoken advocate for parents’ rights and school choice, as well as ensuring that philanthropy continues to have a stake in making a difference in our country.
When she’s not working, Averel loves to explore the world on foot and by air. A fan of the Columbus Crew, Averel and her family live in Central Ohio with their German Shorthaired Pointer, Cocoa.
