Senior Fellow

FGA understands what it takes to develop and implement good public policy. It has a unique approach that translates great ideas into concrete, actionable policy reforms that empower millions of Americans to pursue their dreams.

About Brian

Brian Sikma is a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA), where he focuses on state-level policy solutions.

Before joining FGA, Brian worked as a policy staffer in the Wisconsin Senate for three legislative sessions. While working on a broad range of policies, he focused on state regulatory reform, election law, natural resources and energy issues, and transportation policy. Earlier in his career, he worked in non-profit journalism, regularly appearing on local and state television and radio programs, and wrote extensively about political and policy debates in Wisconsin.

Brian is a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard and deployed to Afghanistan from 2019 to 2020, where he led an Infantry platoon and served as an operations officer working closely with Afghan security forces.

He first experienced the value of work while picking blueberries in rural Indiana as a summer job. To him, work is a key fulfillment of human purpose. It has the power to meaningfully improve his own life and the lives of those around him, leaving the world a better place.

When he’s not working, Brian enjoys working out, hiking, camping, and hunting. Less taxing hobbies include visiting museums, reading, and grilling burgers. He resides in southern Wisconsin.
